I'm an outcomes-oriented, entrepreneurial, collaborative, apolitical marketing leader with executive experience across application, platform, infrastructure, and services. I specialize in product marketing, focused on business strategy, segmentation, category creation, go-to-market, and growth based on deep customer insight. I emphasize market relevance above all else, from positioning to messaging, customer and product journeys to sales enablement, and product launches to pricing and packaging. I have built and led marketing teams at five startups, all of which became unicorns, one of which was a $5B+ publicly traded company, and one of which had a $1B+ exit. I have managed marketing teams as large as 25 and distributed across five countries. My experience runs deep in most marketing functional areas, and I like to balance player and coaching duties to integrate across the full stack of product marketing, demand generation, marketing operations, customer marketing, communications, content marketing, sales development, events, and field marketing. There's nothing I love more than putting together a strategy and executing thoughtful, creative solutions to challenging business problems, whether for large enterprises or SMBs. I have subject matter expertise in cloud, analytics, SaaS, product-led growth PLG, artificial intelligence AI, machine learning ML, Big Data, DevOps, developer tools, mobile, monitoring and observability, productivity tools, microservices, financial services, education, adtech, and open source software. I'm a Kellogg MBA with 20 years of international experience in the Americas, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe. My career started in international development NGOs, I dabble in music journalism — previously writing for Pitchfork.com (acquired by Conde Nast) — and I started and ran a profitable social network for music lovers with more than 1,300 members in 30 countries.
