As a Telehealth Physician Advisor at Geographic Emergency Medicine Service (GEMS), I leverage my extensive clinical and administrative experience to provide remote medical guidance, practice development, billing and revenue cycle management, patient safety, and risk management solutions for diverse health care organizations. With over 30 years of practice in emergency medicine and over 10 years of leadership in telehealth, I am board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP), with a subspecialization in risk management and patient safety. I am passionate about improving health outcomes and access for all through innovative technology and training. I am also a social impact entrepreneur and a recognized leader in global emergency medicine development. I am the founder and director of PACEMD, a social entrepreneurial organization that provides health care to the last kilometer in Mexico and Latin America. I have trained over 50,000 people in life support courses and have ongoing projects in maternal mortality mitigation and capacity building. I am an Ashoka and Global Social Benefit Institute Fellow as well as a recipient of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine (IFEM) Humanitarian Award for my international development work. I have also developed the MedSpanish Program, an immersion and online training platform for health care workers. I am a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the IFEM, and a former medical officer for a United States Disaster Medical Assistance Team in the 9/11 WTC disaster.
