About

I have worked in the behavioral health industry for over 10 years and have spent my career broadening my skills in order to best serve the community. My journey into the mental health field began shortly after I started working on my bachelor’s in psychology degree. I began working at Origins Recovery Center, a residential substance-use treatment facility for adults, as a resident advocate. Upon earning my Bachelor’s, I secured my first case management position at Tropical Texas Behavioral Health. My experience at Tropical Texas Behavioral Health prepared me for many different scenarios, particularly managing crises as I participated on the volunteer after-hours crisis team. Inpatient psychiatric treatment was an important experience that allowed me to broaden my skills and education even further. While employed at Palms Behavioral Health, I was responsible for intake assessments, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, UM authorization and treatment planning, among other responsibilities. The complex case manager position at Superior Health Plan involved me managing a case load of anywhere between 40 and 60 members and making contact with them regularly to identify needs and assist them in locating resources. Upon assuming my role of Director of Treatment at AMIkids RGV, I began collaborating with various members in the organization in order to develop a strong treatment program in preparation for a contract with DFPS and foster care. This position required a balance between administrative responsibilities and treatment responsibilities including developing policies and procedures consistent with state requirements and developing an employee training program. Returning to Superior HealthPlan after picking up invaluable skills and knowledge from my work with AMIkids RGV proved to be an excellent step in my career. I began working as a Behavioral Health Service Coordinator for individuals in my community and gathered even more knowledge about Medicaid and Medicare and healthcare in general. After around 2 years, I knew that a move that would utilize the experience I gained from AMIkids RGV and help me grow my skills further is what I was searching for - enter the Superior HealthPlan training team. The Clinical Training position has been challenging and exciting and continuously pushes me out of my comfort zone and helps me develop as a professional and in my own personal life.
